What are Bespoke Battles?

Bespoke Battles and Tours are designed to appeal to people seriously interested in modern military history.

Throughout the year Mike Shaw runs courses on a variety of subjects at a number of attractive country-house locations throughout the United Kingdom. During these courses he explores the wider strategic background of various campaigns.

The structure of these courses varies - dayschools, residential weekend and summer schools. All his courses are profusely illustrated making appropriate use of modern technology. They are delivered with pace, an informed style and a light touch.

If you are of an independent caste of mind and like to travel alone or with your own friends, then after one of Mike's courses you will be well-equipped to visit the battlefields concerned. With a little of his help and advice you should be able to plan your own trip in order to make the best use of your time on the ground.

If, on the other hand, you like to do your touring in company, each year we offer a number of small group tours. Each of these will be crafted so that your particular interests can be built into the programme. Mike has a particular interest in Eastern Europe and the Eastern Front during both World Wars. He has conducted a number of tours to Poland, the Baltic republics and the Carpathian Mountains in recent years.
